Start a related podcast on your subject matter, and get it into iTunes and listed in the various podcasting directories

Post in forums with similair content

A tried and true technique since the earliest days of the Internet is to be a helpful, proactive participant in forums that are important in your niche. People will notice that you are offering yourself up to others, and will be more inclined to see what else you have to offer with your blog.

A: I think you are, for reasons both large and small. Let me give you but one example:

A few days ago on a busy school night, my wife called and asked me to pick up some dinner on the way home. She mentioned a restaurant we like, even though we don't get to it often, and asked me to look up their menu online so we could figure out what to get.

Yet try as I might, I couldn't fine their website. It finally dawned on me that they did not have one. But since we had not been there in quite a while and could not remember everything on their menu, we decided to get dinner from another place.

Multiply that multi-fold and that's why every small business has to have a website.

Write in Short Paragraphs

The visual appeal of your content can be just as important as the content itself. Write your posts in short paragraphs (no more than 2-3 sentences is a safe rule) to provide visual relief from a text heavy web page.

Be Honest

Articles that are written in honestly and show who the writer is are the most popular. Remember, a critical component to a sites success is the community that develops around it. Represent yourself and your content honestly and openly and reader loyalty will undoubtedly grow.

Choose the Appropriate Tone for Your Site

Every site has a target audience it's written for. Before you start writing posts, determine who your primary and secondary audiences will be. Who will want to read your posts and why? Are they seeking professional information and discussions or fun and laughter? Identify not only your goals for your blog but also your audience's expectations for it. Then decide what tone would be most appropriate for your site, and write in that tone and style consistently.
